As a seasoned trader with a particular focus on cost control, I always evaluate swap fees—or overnight financing charges—alongside spreads and commissions before choosing a broker. However, when I investigated TradeStation, I faced a challenge: TradeStation does not offer traditional forex trading, and as a result, the usual discussion around swap fees for currency pairs isn't directly applicable here. This is important to understand, since comparing swap rates with other multi-asset or forex brokers would not be possible in the way it is for brokers that actively list forex pairs and their respective overnight costs. TradeStation primarily caters to traders in stocks, options, futures, ETFs, and mutual funds. For those researching swap fees like me, it’s apparent they focus on other fee structures—such as commissions, various service or custodial fees, and charges associated with futures, stocks, or crypto—rather than the overnight interest you’d see typical in spot forex trading accounts elsewhere. From my perspective, this shifts the due diligence process: rather than comparing swap charges, I needed to pay careful attention to their explicit commissions, margin rates, and account maintenance or withdrawal fees. In summary, I could not adequately compare TradeStation’s swap (overnight) fees, since their offered markets do not apply these charges in the way forex brokers do. For anyone whose strategy relies on holding positions overnight in forex, I would recommend clarifying your intended asset class and reviewing all associated TradeStation fees directly, remembering that the absence of swap fees does not necessarily mean lower trading costs overall. As with any broker—particularly those lacking regulatory oversight—caution and a thorough review of all costs and risk factors is paramount.
