In my experience trading with CMB, I found that the platform focuses on stocks, options, and futures, rather than spot forex, and because of this, traditional “spreads” as understood in forex trading aren’t directly highlighted or advertised for their products. Instead, the main costs are commissions and various exchange-related fees. This is an important distinction, because for futures or stock trading, market liquidity and order book depth play a larger role in bid-ask spreads, which can be variable and subject to prevailing market conditions rather than fixed by the broker. During periods of high market volatility or when significant news events break, I have observed that bid-ask spreads for stocks and futures can widen considerably, reflecting underlying market uncertainty and reduced liquidity. This is an industry norm and not unique to CMB, but it is still something I always factor in, especially if I need to enter or exit positions quickly. Since CMB operates under SFC regulation in Hong Kong and does not market itself as a forex broker offering fixed or variable spreads like many retail brokers do, there is less transparency or control over spread size—it simply mirrors what the underlying market offers at any given moment. For me, the real costs with CMB lie in the commission structure, exchange fees, and the natural widening of spreads during market shocks, rather than any broker-defined fixed or floating spread model. This indirect fee mechanism means I am careful with trade timing and execution, particularly in fast-moving markets.
