From my hands-on experience and review of Firstrade’s offering, I can confirm that automated trading with Expert Advisors (EAs) is not supported on Firstrade’s platforms. Firstrade operates mainly through its proprietary web and mobile platforms, plus the OptionsWizard tool, all of which are tailored towards manual investing and do not provide EA integration or algorithmic trading APIs. Unlike brokers that offer the MetaTrader suite—where EAs are standard—Firstrade’s infrastructure simply isn’t built for automated strategies or third-party trading bots. For someone like me, who appreciates algorithmic trading and automation, this limitation is significant. The absence of EA support limits a trader’s ability to implement systematic strategies or benefit from automated risk management—key elements in my trading workflow. The reason behind this omission becomes clear when considering Firstrade’s business model and target market: it’s a U.S.-centric broker focused on stocks, ETFs, mutual funds, and options, with zero access to forex or other global instruments typically associated with EA usage. Their primary draw is commission-free trading and user-friendly manual investing, not providing a platform for advanced algorithmic trading. Given Firstrade’s lack of regulation and the high potential risk flagged by independent reviewers, I urge other traders to exercise caution and set realistic expectations regarding automation. If automated trading or Expert Advisors are essential for your strategy, I would recommend exploring regulated brokers that specialize in algorithmic trading and offer MT4, MT5, or robust API access. Based on both my needs and thorough platform analysis, Firstrade is simply not suitable for EA or automated trading.
